Just wondering if anyone buys manga anymore because it seems that it is kind of pointless now since there is the internet and that it is an expensive hobby. I mean, I was checking out the price for the first volume of Berserk at my local comic book store and they were asking almost $17 for just one paperback book that I could finish in 30 minutes. Also, doesn't it seem pointless to read manga anymore. For example, I wanted to read Berserk but since I heard that it is getting another chance into an animated form again but this time expanding to the whole story, I find it useless now to enjoy it in manga form. However, I hope the Berserk movie gets localized to American audiences by the beginning of next year but I doubt it though since the earthquake in Japan that happened recently probably delayed the movie's production. However, I might stick to the Berserk manga if the director of the movies tries to edit them down in order to have a wider audience because Berserk would not be Berserk without all the violence and monster rape. However one manga I did enjoy reading was Gantz but I stopped after almost reading 200 chapters of it because I just was not interested with reading it on a computer screen anymore and I do not have the money to buy all the volumes of Gantz since each one cost about $17 each at my local comic book store. |

I'm still working on completing my Dragon Ball collection...still have like 8 or 9 books left. And I do want to go through Hikaru No Go for sure. Hoestly people have been passing fan scans around the internet for 15 years. I've got old CDs with manga from 10 years ago that have seen been published in America...and I bought them.
The people that are like 5 years old right now are really the ones that are going to go paperless. Nothing's ever going to replace the conveneince of a book for me. Resizing vegemite on the ipod touch blows. Maybe if I was a weirdo and had an iPad I'd be singing the praises of virtual comics...but meh I'm not mental. _________________ www.mondocoolcast.com

I just bought Death Note: Black edition vol.2. So, yes I still buy the manga.
I go crazy when I see a love hina book also, and buy it straight away. _________________ <a><img src="http://www.gamersgate.com/ggtagi/2863941" width="225" height="198" border="0" alt="GG Tag"></a></img> |

I just got my copy of Berserk Volume 1 in the mail yesterday from Boarders and I just finished my copy today and now I am wanting to order the rest of the volumes because the first volume was so good and I want to see the rest of the story but I will just buy up to Volume 3 since Volume 4 starts off with the arc that the show covers. As for the rest of the volumes, I will not buy them since I will just wait for the second animation adaption to come out endless the adaption gets toned down, I will just buy the rest of the volumes instead but I hope that the people behind the production don't do that. |

I just got Berserk Volume 4 last week and I got Volume 2 and 3 somewhere in May and have enjoyed all the volumes I have and I saw the trailer to the Berserk Movie almost a month ago and I was not impressed by it just because the animation looks so generic and all computer generated but I will still wait and see it since trailers are not sometimes the best interpretations but if I am not impressed by it when I see the full movie, then I will just stick with Berserk in manga form only. |

Somehow, I just realized that manga is important because it is similar to people who enjoy reading the book and then watching the movie adaptation and that is the same with anime and manga for me now. Also, a whole shelf of a long running series will probably look sweet.
This is especially true when I was watching the new Hunter X Hunter remake and wanted to check out the manga since I heard that it was way more violent.
So I just finished reading my first Volume of Hunter X Hunter and it is especially more violent so I am going to buy this whole manga series first and then after that, Berserk, then after that One Piece, then maybe after all of that, Gantz. |
